“Optimism is most useful in the most challenging times. It's a candle we hold up in the darkness, not a celebration evoked by an achievement” - Christiana Figueres
Hosts Christiana Figueres, Tom Rivett-Carnac and Paul Dickinson inspired this 2 part blog. With heart, humor, frankness, and smarts, they post twice a week about current climate topics. The more heady style is called "Outrage! + Optimism." Part 1 will start with Optimism. What does it inspire in you?
Once upon a time not so very long ago...
In fact less than a year ago...
3 dams choked the Klamath River in Northern California and Southern Oregon.
With so much gratitude to all who worked together...
Especially the tribes who held the knowledge and vision through so many challenges...
To bring down the dams...
Nature is truly amazing when we do our part to be in reciprocal relationship.
The moment has come!
I have found the artist to do the illustrations for the Earth Archetypes.
Thank you Mateo!
Combined with vision, communication, skills, and excitement, we make a good match.
I’m so excited to keep working together on the remaining 4 Earth Archetypes.
Then the scenes…
To create holiday cards…
And a coloring book…
Then onto graphic novels…
And more.
Together we will animate these types into friends, stories, aspirations.
Here we go!!!!!
Introducing…
The Network Earth Archetype.
If you are asking
"I like to hike, but what can I do about climate change?"
OR
"I like to camp, but what can I do about climate change?"
OR
"I like to swim, but what can I do about climate change?"
Let me suggest that the answer is in the question.
You are already stating something about who you are.
What you like.
Just like an amazing group called:
Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage!
With a mission aimed at swimming to remove trash from ponds, channeling the strength of older women and challenging others to see beyond limits to take concrete action to preserve the environment...
These ladies demonstrate that being who you are really does matter!
To participate, you much meet 3 requirement:
Swim half a mile in under 30 minutes.
Be at least 64 years old.
Free dive at least eight feet.
Now, even though I'm not any of these three...
It makes me think about 3 things I am/do that could combine together to make a difference.
How about:
Hike, squat, reach?
OR
Assemble people, tells stories, create awe?
And then work together in community to increase the impact.
After all, I learned about the good ol' ladies thanks to The Female Quotient.
As a media source, they're "in the business of equality. Changing the equation, closing the gender gap."
What are sets of 3 about you that could combine into action?
