Why the heck would I start this blog with such a picture and quote?!? Because last night I had the absolute joy of watching investigative climate reporter and creator of the podcast Drilled Amy Westervelt lead the most amazing panel called "The Mad Men of Big Oil" at the Hollywood Climate Summit.

Equal parts powerpoint presentation, entertaining podcast, friend hangout, stand up comedy, and brilliant research... it's gotta be one of the top learning experiences of my life.

Now here's a peak at what else is happening here at the summit...

Acknowledge Earth Is Our Home

What is striking me this week is the variety of ways different Earth Archetypes express this when we come together. An interesting contrast is when I attend the Ecological Society of America conference last summer and now here at Hollywood Climate Summit.

In both places, what felt amazing is that coming into any conversation, "Earth is Our Home" is a given starting point. We don't have to cue this concept up. We can dive right in.

But the way we dive in is revealing. Registration tables with red velvet ropes and germ designations. Visuals from graphs to stunning fashion. Use of the mic ranges from incomprehensible to masterful. Settings vary from a theater lined with Oscar statues to an expo lined with scientific papers.

And I loved both. I also wonder where are the moments where our hands are in the dirt...

As I talk over and over with people about the types, I am finding myself having so much fun with the many ways people ask about how to discover their type or the type of others.

People asking me to guess their type.

Other's jumping straight into the quiz.

Nutrient bar creators pondering a quiz QR code inside their wrappers.

What about a dating site?

And so much more.

Work Together in Community

A whole lotta Metaphor Types are here at HCS. The key element of imagination is all over the place. What could be? What could it look like? How does that help create the desired future and impact?

Yet, I'm loving the variety of folks that are helping me boost this prime skill with theirs.

I've been especially grateful for Network Type Carole Joyce as she helps me debrief days and conversations to help me expand these ideas even further. Expand what's truly possible. She helps me see the systems this imagination can blossom into.

And amazing humans like Weaver Leah Renee-K who's been introducing me to people the past two days. When my imagination needs a spark to know how to enter a conversation with someone, she creates a whole experience in that very moment to make it happen with humor and intelligence.
