“It is as though nature is a wonderful symphony that science sits in awe of. It looks closely at each player, how the tubas are tuned and how the strings are strung." -- Kyle Hill
Taking my own advice from "The Science and Story of Awe," I'm sharing moments that brought awe to my life this week. Some the type of awe that gives scary shivers and some that make me feel connected to a larger whole.
Acknowledge Earth Is Our Home
I have no idea how or why, but I noticed something on weird on my hip as I was using the toilet first thing in the morning.
I brushed at it, thinking it was fuzz from my red sweatshirt.
But quickly realized by it's texture and stickiness that I was dealing with something else entirely.
As I tipped over a bit to get a better look, what I saw woke me up from groggy state.
A TICK!
Now if I had been out a bunch the day before...
But my last forest walkabout was 7 days prior and a 10 hour work shift in an urban farmers market 4 days prior...
Or was sleeping in my car or tent...
But I was sound asleep in my cushy home bed...
Or...heck I don't even know!
Thankfully, I have one of those tweezers designed just for the job.
And off it came, joining the flush down my toilet.
As I connect with a new friend in Atlanta, she took the "What is YOUR Earth Archetype?" quiz. And in her email wrote,
Also, I‘ve attached the results from the Earth Archetype quiz.
Her results were 20 Weaver, 19 Metaphor, 19 Embodiment, 12 Network, and 6 Molecule.
So I responded...
Fun to see your EA results! I'm still optimizing it to help with scores like this that have pretty much a tie across a couple areas. Do you feel like the Weaver results resonate with you?
Then I shared the report for Metaphor and Embodiment.
In her next email, she responded...
Yes, the Weaver suits me best. Definitely as a theatre director it is a clear fit. High scores in Metaphor and Embodiment make sense, but Weaver is clearly the right one for me personally.

Are you someone who got multiple high scores?
This part of the 3 Step Reciprocity Cycle has been very present for me this week.
While listening to Katharine Hayhoe's audiobook "Saving Us" where she emphasizes starting with shared values that can range from watershed data to Christian missionary experiences to an organization's core principles
While talking with the amazing Executive Director Carla Lewis about the phenomenal work EcoAction does to help neighborhoods advocate with themselves when faced with systemic economic and health challenges
While learning about the grants Valerie Bennett and her team gift through the Ray C Anderson Foundation that pair up community and climate orgs to help provide solutions...that just so happen to also be a climate solution
While chatting with film producer Jeremiah Bennett about the political and ideological divides he can cross when advocating for Georgia's film industry and climate challenges
I have learned so much by engaging with people that actively work together in community and am thrilled to immerse myself even more during my 2 week location scouting trip to Atlanta.
To touch the land, meet new friends in real life, and deeply listen to what "How on Earth?" can be if we film there.
I'm already feeling so grateful!
