“Honor the space between no longer and not yet” - Nancy Levin
It's been an intense week.
Samhain fires. Election results.
Grieving. Recommitting.
Starting with 9 days in LA...
Waking up inside the comfy blankets of my car bed...
The liminal energy of the previous night's Samhain energy is palpable.
I lay there, parked between the Druid sanctuary and Buddhist temple on this land.
And a light rain began.
The cozy warmth and the soft sound of drops held me in the land between awake and asleep for 30 extra minutes.
When the rain stopped, I popped out to see a short rain dog on the horizon.
Throughout the next few hours, the rain came and went along with the rainbows.
Each time, I said hello to the 5 Earth Archetypes which each have their color on the arched prism.
The lines between each being blurry, but together make a whole.
Finally, while prepping to leave, I stood in a spot where the rain or the sun hit different parts of my body.
What a joy to live 2 different definitions of liminal.
"Sensory threshold"
And
"an intermediate state, phase, or condition : in-between, transitional"
Thank you Dogda and Morrigan
Thank you ancestors.
Thank you nature spirits.
Letting go….
Today I am flying to LA for the opening night of Ethos Film Festival.
The filmmakers and creators that gather here all have purpose drive and impact focused projects to share with the world.
Using story and cinema to address important issues to address and craft what the world could look like.
I'm excited to see who gathers and what their imagination has to share with us all.
For me, I'll be leading 2 panels.
In the afternoon, I moderate an extended Q&A with the environment shorts block filmmakers who focus their stories on environmental issues.
Grateful for the the section being designated for "Earth Archetypes," I'm sure to bring questions about relationships and reciprocity.
And before that, I'm producing a panel called "Real Stories, Real Impact." Here's the description:
"We come here because telling stories that matter is important to us. Our areas of focus might be different, but we share a desire to create a positive cultural footprint. And ETHOS celebrates so many unique styles of storytelling from reels to shorts to features. This panel will introduce a whole new category that attracts large and ideologically diverse audiences. Join Erica Rosenthal, Cookie Zito, and Amber Peoples as we explore how unscripted shows create bonds between audiences and participants that influence ideas and behaviors."
Can you guess what that new category is?
One that 1/3 of Americans watch?
One that crosses cultural and ideological divides?
Yep, reality tv.
It's gonna get juicy!
How are you with integrating the election results?
For me, both feel heavy on my heart. I feel let down. And I will feel that. I will let my body morn.
I'll also remember what I committed to 8 years ago after returning from walking the lands of my ancestors to hearing the 2016 election results.
“Arts are my skillset.
Ecology is my home.”
This solidarity remains a critical keystone.
Climate storytelling is often at the crux of cultural and systemic change.

And I know I must continue.
Now, grateful to have all the knowledge, relationships, and COMMUNITY I’ve gained.
In that vein, I wanted to check in on YOUR heart.
How are you?
