"I don't think you're going to change anything when there's such massive vested interests and money to be made."
We're not here to break this quote down.
We're moving through it together
to build language for real conversations.
What happens when you read this quote?
Maybe something heavy settles in your chest — that familiar weight of "what's the point." Maybe you see a specific headline, a specific moment when you realized how much money was lined up against you. Maybe exhaustion shows up before you even finish reading.
Whatever's showing up, just notice it's there.
CONNECT
You're watching vested interests do their thing (again!) and it feels pointless.
Case in point: the U.S. military just attacked Iran without congressional oversight. Same military that's the world's largest institutional polluter.
Nothing says "we care about the future" like launching missiles funded by the industries destroying it.
Molecule sees what's happening: your resignation isn't a bug. It's a feature. When you believe nothing can change, you stop trying. That's exactly what keeps vested interests...vested.
The question isn't whether they exist. It's whether you're going to let them have the only voice.
TRY
This week, try this:
Pick one vested interest that makes you want to give up — fossil fuel lobbying, military spending, whatever makes your blood boil. Find one organization actively fighting it and give them $5. Or share their work. Or just learn their name.
This way you're putting one small counterweight on the scale. The vested interests are counting on you to believe that doesn't matter.
You don't have to fight every vested interest. Some days the most radical thing is just not giving up entirely.
& REPEAT
Watch for this pattern elsewhere.
Notice when resignation shows up as "wisdom" — when giving up feels like being realistic. That's your signal: someone benefits from you believing you're powerless.
Each time you catch it, you get a choice… Stay resigned, or put one small thing on the scale anyway.
