The Penultimate 3 Step Reciprocity Cycle

December 11, 20253 min read

We are part of this world, and its rhythms live in us." -- Robin Wall Kimmerer

As I sit down to write this week’s entry, I can feel the familiar quiet that comes when something is nearing completion. Not a dramatic ending, not a grand finale — just the slow settling that comes after traveling with intention for many months. for 82 entries, we’ve been walking the 3 Step Reciprocity Cycle together, tracing its arcs across seasons, stories, challenges, uncertainties, rituals, and revelations.

Now, as this journey approaches its close, I find myself drawn toward something simple:
a gesture of returning, of offering back what has been shared.

Not a beginning.
Not an unveiling.
Just reciprocity — completing the loop.

Acknowledge Earth Is Our Home

In nature, endings are rarely final.
They are slow, patient, rhythmic.

A leaf curls before it drops.
A riverbed changes shape long before it’s visible.
A season releases itself one breath at a time.

When we acknowledge Earth as our home, we learn that completion is part of relationship.
Not an escape, not a loss — but a gesture of balance.

This 3 Step Reciprocity Cycle has taught me, again and again, how much Earth mirrors us:

  • how we expand

  • how we contract

  • how we pause

  • how we return

And just as the natural world doesn’t rush its endings, I feel no rush here.
Only gratitude — for the stories, the questions, the community, the insights that unfolded across this cycle.

Discover Your Earth Archetype

One of my greatest joys this year was watching the Earth Archetypes breathe and grow in real time — through conversations, illustrations, panels, collaborations, and your reflections.

And as we close this cycle, I’ve been thinking about how each Earth Archetype approaches completion:

  • Molecule traces the arc back to its origins, noticing what was learned.

  • Network senses subtle shifts in pattern and energy, knowing the cycle is landing.

  • Weaver ties off threads with care, gratitude, and coherence.

  • Metaphor recognizes the symbolism of endings as their own kind of story.

  • Embodiment listens for the internal signal that says, “It’s time.”

No single approach is “right.”
They are simply different expressions of belonging.

So as we close this cycle together, I invite you to notice:

How does your Earth Archetype guide you through endings?
How do you honor what you’ve experienced?
What ritual — small or large — helps you complete something with integrity?

I'd love to hear!

Work Together in Community

Community isn’t always loud.
Often, it is the steady presence of knowing someone else is walking the same terrain.

So as this cycle nears its close, I want to offer something simple and sincere:

Thank you.

Thank you for reading.
Thank you for witnessing.
Thank you for engaging with your own relationship to Earth, archetypes, and community.
Thank you for helping bring these ideas to life through your own interpretations and actions.

This, too, is reciprocity:
a shared circle, each of us contributing our part.

Next week, the Winter Solstice will arrive in the Northern Hemisphere.
Not as a beginning.
Not as a launch.
But as a natural pause in the rhythm of the Earth — a place to rest, reflect, and listen.

And I will meet you there.
