Weekly Walk through the Earth Archetypes Journey

A Moment: when the dark arrives

October 29, 2026•2 min read

A Line I Heard

"Something about this time of year makes me want to slow down."

Journey Framing:

October has been a lot.

I worked hard on things that didn't land the way I hoped. My nervous system has been running hot.

And now Samhain arrives in 2 days: the old threshold between the light half and the dark half of the year.

Let's move through it together.

Start with "Notice"...

NOTICE

What happens when you read this quote?

Maybe you recognize the feeling. Your body already knows this annual pull.

Maybe October has been a lot for you too, and the idea of slowing down sounds less like a luxury and more like something your nervous system is quietly begging for.

Maybe this interpretation of the upcoming holiday is new to you and you’re curious.

Whatever's showing up, just notice it's there.

CONNECT

Electricity and LED screens may have shifted our lives dramatically, but here’s what Samhain shares about natural cycles in the northern hemisphere: the dark is something you enter.

Leaves drop. Light leaves earlier. Earth goes quiet into roots and dens.

Embodiment knows this in their bones. When the season asks for stillness, you get still. Not because you've earned it. Not because everything is resolved. But because the threshold is here, and walking through it is its own kind of trending.

The invitation doesn't wait for a better time. It arrives when it arrives.

TRY

This week, try this:

On October 31, light a candle at dusk.

You don't have to have processed everything that happened this month. You don't have to be ready.

Just sit with the light and the dark for a bit. Breathe. In. Out.

REST

This threshold is a pause. The energy is your awareness.

& REPEAT

Watch for this pattern elsewhere.

Notice when the season is shifting and you're still running at the pace of the season before.

Each time you catch it, you get the same choice: keep running, or step through. A candle. An earlier bedtime. Five minutes outside in the dark.

A relationship with the earth asks for your presence.
