A Moment: when the invite feels impossible

A Line I Heard

“Talking about climate is hard enough. How do I invite people to a thing?”

Journey Framing:

We’re not here to talk you into it.

We’re moving through it together to build language for real conversations.

Start with "Notice"...

NOTICE

What happens when you read this quote?

Maybe you think of a specific person. Someone you’ve been meaning to invite and haven’t.

Maybe there’s a flash of recognition. You’ll text someone about a concert without a second thought, but “want to come to this climate thing?” sits in your drafts.

Maybe you feel slightly ridiculous that this is even hard. It’s just a text. And yet.

Whatever’s showing up, just notice it’s there.

CONNECT

Maybe you don’t want to be the person who makes a hangout a pitch. Or you don’t want friends to feel recruited.

(Classic “I promise this isn’t a pyramid scheme” energy — which, once you’ve said it, has done the opposite of reassure.)

Weaver sees what’s actually true: the people you most want in that room aren’t waiting to be convinced. They’re waiting to be invited.

(Kinda like people feel too self conscious to be the first one on the dance floor but love to be asked).

TRY

This week, try this:

Think of one person you’ve been meaning to invite to something climate-related but haven’t. Don’t send the invite yet. Just ask yourself: why haven’t you?

Name the actual reason. “I don’t want to seem preachy.” “I’m not sure they care.” “I don’t want them to say no.” Whatever it is… just name it.

Sometimes naming it is enough to break through and hit send.

REST

One person you actually want in the room is enough to start.

Then get your nervous system back on track.

& REPEAT

Watch for this pattern elsewhere.

Notice when you want to send invites to something that matters to you… but you pause because you’re not sure how it’ll land.

Each time you breathe through that pause, the easier it gets.

Stay in Relationship

This blog is part of an ongoing practice. If you’d like, you can receive one Earth Archetype Moment each week by email. Drawn from real conversations, real uncertainty, and real care. Each one moves gently through notice, connect, try, and R&R. You’re welcome to join the free newsletter here:

P.S. Some of these moments also unfold in public, and I record them on video. You can find those on Instagram and YouTube.
